Top Three Team Building Events in Birmingham:
Chocolate Making
Number one in our recommendations has to be Chocolate Making, just because of the link between Cadbury and Birmingham. We bring in a chocolate factory for each of your teams, all of the ingredients required to make delicious treats, and we provide a team of experienced and genial chocolatiers who will oversee the activity and transfer all of the knowledge required. BAT booked this event; ‘I spoke to several people after the session and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. The facilitator Peter was very lively and conducted the session well. All of the teams had a great time competing with each other. It was a fun and nice activity and I would recommend this to others.’ This event can be themed, or we have seasonal versions. It is very popular at Christmas. The skills learned can be taken away, and we hope to make everyone into a chocolatier!
Murder Mystery
We have more than thirty different Murder Mystery scripts for you to choose from, all delivered by a team of professional actors. You can choose different eras, for example 1920s, Medieval or Dickensian. We have options for Christmas, and a James Bond themed event for fans of the films. You act as detectives, attempting to find Method, Motive and Murderer. We can even include small parts for members of your team, which are written to include in jokes and references that will guarantee a reaction from the audience. KPMG chose this team building event; ‘Thank you so much for the organisation of the event and the event itself. It was enjoyed immensely by all, a huge success!’ Murder Mysteries can be delivered in any room with private dining, and there are some very grand old hotels in Birmingham that make the ideal setting for a classic show.
The Rookie
The Rookie is our tribute to The Apprentice. Teams will head out onto the streets of Birmingham to complete a variety of challenges that will be familiar to anyone who has watched the show. Our very own Lord Sweetener (a Sugar substitute) will brief the teams and send them off on the challenge, with his stern words of warning ringing in their ears. After all, no-one wants to get fired! The team building challenges include taking photos, answering questions, and collecting a variety of objects, some harder to find than others. This is a real test of teamwork and ingenuity. TJX said this; ‘I just wanted to thank you on behalf of the whole team for such a fantastic day last Thursday, everyone really enjoyed themselves. The activity was well thought out, interactive and really fun.’
Outdoor Team Building Events in Birmingham
If you want to experience outdoor events such as Country Sports and It’s A Knockout then you will need to take a short trip to the outskirts of Birmingham where there is plentiful space for these outdoor team building experiences. There are a few small spaces in the city where limited events can be held, and some of the hotels have roof terraces where a Crystal Challenge event might be held. The obvious outdoor event solution in any city is one of our Treasure Hunts and there are various options available. The international Round The World event would fit Birmingham very well, and our Hidden Quest Treasure Hunt adds a cryptic element to the challenge. Chris’ team took part in a Treasure Hunt event and he sent us this feedback; ‘It was excellent! Rob was brilliant with the introduction and really slick; he was even brilliant at the end. The event itself was awesome – we all absolutely loved it and took it really seriously but had such fun with it too. There was some competitive spirit between the two teams and, if I recall correctly, there were only 4 points in it at the end so we were all happy.’
Indoor Team Building Events in Birmingham
The Ultimate Challenge is an indoor team building event that really sets the pace and energises the room. Each team is given a box containing a selection of puzzles, challenges and fun activities. This is where the strategy is important. You have to complete as many as possible within the given timeframe. Some are easy, but earn fewer points. Others are tricky and will give you more points. It really is The Ultimate Challenge. The Professional Footballers Association are a competitive group, and Zoe sent us this feedback after their event; ‘This is the third experience we have booked through The Team Building Company. Once again an excellent event; well organised, very helpful staff and providing a lot of laughs throughout the challenges.’ Our F1 Challenge is another indoor team building event. Teams design, build and race their own F1 car, made from a chassis and materials that we provide. One School Global chose this event; ‘The event went really well and the students were fully engaged from start to finish. It was one of the best non-teaching days they have had. Many thanks to you and all the staff involved both on the day and in organising.’
Evening Team Building Events in Birmingham
We run many evening team building events in Birmingham, and here the options are not limited due to space. Most of the city centre hotels have large event rooms, and some have more traditional ballrooms. These decorative spaces lend themselves to a Murder Mystery dinner. Baxalta chose this event and had this to say afterwards; ‘Just wanted to drop you a line to say how fabulous the murder mystery dinner was last night. The actors were brilliant, the story line was excellent and everyone enjoyed it immensely. Please pass on my thanks to the actors for doing such a terrific job. I have had such a lot of positive feedback today from the guests (as the majority of them are international so have never experienced it before) so I think we have certainly given them an experience to remember which was our aim.’ Murder Mysteries are perfect for international groups, and for some reason many seem to associate the genre with England. It must be Agatha Christie’s influence, or Sherlock Holmes, or Cluedo. We have other evening team building events, for example Stocks and Shares, our thrilling stock market simulation in which fortunes can change in an instant. Call us for further information.
Icebreaker Team Building Events in Birmingham
Break the ice with our icebreaker team building events. The purpose of these events is to kick off a conference with an energetic start, or to bring people back into the room after a lunch break. Icebreakers are short, sharp and sparky. Boombastic is one of our popular choices, and it involves making sweet music with a Boomwhacker. ‘What is a Boomwhacker?’ we hear you ask. Essentially it is a coloured length of plastic tubing that has been tuned to create a musical note. You hit it on your hand, your thigh, or even your head if you want to. Each colour is a different length and a different note. If everyone holds one of these simple devices, and is then organised, a musical tune emerges. Boombastic is great fun, and the journey from chaos to order is a good metaphor for successful teamwork. If music is not your team’s thing then we have other icebreaker team building events. Egg Toss is a simple idea, you throw an egg over as long a distance as possible, which results in some very complex contraptions. Out of respect for innocent Brummies going about their daily business, we do not allow this icebreaker on rooftop terraces!
Company Fun Days in Birmingham
The Company Fun Day is usually a larger scale event with a variety of activities, perhaps a marquee or two, catering and some companies even stretch to bringing in an ice cream van. There are many locations just outside Birmingham where we can do these events. The activities will include inflatable games such as Human Table Football, and you can also include Country sports such as Archery and Laser Clay Shooting. Often companies will encourage employees to bring along their families, and this can create a lot of goodwill within the broader company community. The activity programme varies based on who will be coming and the budget for the whole day. We could say that it is a blank canvas, but since some of our activities involve blank canvasses that might be confusing! Anna Clarke is a professional event organiser, and she had this to say about our ability to run large events; ‘a brilliant company to use. Extremely efficient pre-event with planning and ease to work with. Absolutely fantastic onsite, each staff member brings extreme energy and skill to each activity and the events always run really smoothly. As an events agency, we use these guys all the time, and they never disappoint.’
Company Away Days in Birmingham
The away day is simply getting away from the office for a day. As a city location this may mean that a company based in Birmingham is getting away for the day, and there are some great locations just a short train trip from the city which is very well served by three good train stations. You can choose any activity for your team building away day, and our Drumming Team Building event can be run outdoors as well as indoors. Imagine doing this almost shamanic activity in a woodland or nature reserve. A2dominion chose Drumming for their company away day; ‘I would like to pass on a huge thank you to Chris and his team for a fun filled afternoon of drumming and plenty of laughter too. We had a very positive feedback and praise from every member of staff who attended the drumming workshop and they thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for your assistance in making our away day a huge success.’
Company Team Building in Birmingham
Companies in Birmingham may choose to stay close to home when having their team building event. Others will be meeting in the city because it is a convenient gathering point. This was the case with Franke Europe, who chose us for their company team building; I would like to thank you and all of your team for providing us with such a wonderful day. Having finally managed to arrange a day when 85% of the company could get into one location on the same day your team provided us all with some great games , memorable experiences and many, many laughs. The whole day was a tremendous success for me personally in getting a great message across to the majority of our employees, and for them to enjoy something as a team when many do not see one another from one month to another. Your team were extremely professional, courteous, helpful and certainly patient with some of the requests thrown at them from Franke staff.’ It can be extremely difficult to get everyone together in one place, and sometimes full attendance is simply not viable. 85% is not a bad result for many team building event organisers.
Competitive Team Building Events in Birmingham
Team building events are really useful as a way of promoting healthy competition in a team. Our instructors can make the event more or less competitive, depending on your objectives and, to a significant degree, what has happened so far in the conference. Sometimes a team needs geeing up, and sometimes they need relaxing a little. Our events are the perfect way of changing the dynamic. Clarks did a F1 Challenge; ‘We absolutely loved it. I’ve had some awesome feedback of the day from our teams saying it was not something they expected, and it was so great to work with people who they had not spoken to before. It’s a good challenge for large teams because everyone can get involved and everyone can be creative – everyone has been raving about it! Racing the cars was definitely our favourite bit. Pete and his guys were also a lot of fun, very helpful, entertaining, confident, and made the day really enjoyable. Please pass on my praise and thanks to them.’ We give out medals for the winning team on each event, and these are often worn to dinner in the evening! Light-hearted competition is one of the key benefits of team building events.
Creative Team Building Events in Birmingham
Birmingham has many creative claims to fame. In music Black Sabbath emerged from Birmingham, and Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most famous Brummies in the world. Beating Boots might be a good tribute if you are a fan. The city is home to the Balti Triangle, the home of the British curry house. Our Cuisine Team event can be curry themed. Atlas Copco had a cooking team building experience; ‘The cooking challenge has been the talking point in the office all week and everyone has said what a great evening it was. I think it was something different and not what people were expecting so it went down really well. ‘Rollercoaster involves a lot of creativity, as teams design a Rollercoaster capable of transporting a ball around the room. HLC chose this event and sent us this feedback; ‘I’ve got to say the feedback I’ve received to date has been excellent. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it, describing it as being just the right balance between fun and constructive!’ This makes a very important point about the balancing act of a successful event. The one ingredient that must always be there is fun. Team building events must be enjoyable.
Charity Team Building Events in Birmingham
There are more than 2,000 charities in Birmingham, so this kind-hearted city punches above its weight when it comes to corporate social responsibility. The city is home to Birmingham Mind, the mental health charity. This is a very important cause at all times, but their work does seem to be in demand in these times. Many of our events can have a charity team building angle. One of the more commonly used event formats is Tour de Team, which involves various cycling themed challenges. Over the course of the event each team builds a bike, and we can donate these to good causes around the city after the event. Bakkavor did just this; ‘we thoroughly enjoyed the day and all participants have commented on how enjoyable it was – thank you! We felt the whole day was super organised and took all the pressure off of us and make it a great day that we all enjoyed. It was a great activity and would definitely recommend it to others.’ Another charity team building event possibility is The Rookie, our The Apprentice themed challenge. We can build in a fund raising aspect to this event where teams have a target and must use their creativity not just to hit it but to smash it!
