Christmas is around the corner

/res/xmas2023grid300new.png

It’s that time of year again, and we are all now getting excited for the Christmas season ahead. For many businesses, the holiday season presents an opportunity to reflect on the past year, celebrate team achievements, and, let’s be honest, take a much-needed break from the daily grind. So why not combine all of that with a touch of creativity and festive fun by organizing a Christmas-themed team building event that will leave everyone feeling connected, inspired, and recharged?

The Teambuilding Company is all about creating unique, memorable and exciting experiences that deliver collaboration, communication, and teamwork. This Christmas, we’re here to help you put together your next corporate team building event, that not only highlights the festive spirit but also strengthens your team and brings everyone together. Whether it’s creating your own chocolates from the mobile chocolate-factory, building a Formula One car to race against colleagues, or solving a Murder Mystery over private dining with a Christmassy twist, our activities are perfect for bringing your team together this season.

So, how do you choose the right activity? Well, let’s dive into the options and explore how you can turn your next team day into something different.

Why Christmas is the perfect time for team building

Let’s be honest, Christmas has an undeniable magic that no other time of the year can replicate. The smell of pine trees, the lights, and the warmth of togetherness all contribute to making this time of year special. And that same energy can be infused into your next team building event. It’s not just about an office party or secret Santa gifts; it’s about giving your team a chance to come together, celebrate the season, and build stronger connections.

First, there’s the obvious fun factor. After months of hard work, your team deserves a break. A Christmas team building day allows people to step away from the pressures of their work, take a breath, and enjoy themselves. The holiday cheer, Christmas-themed activities offer tangible benefits for team cohesion.

When you choose to spend your day building something together—whether it’s a batch of delicious chocolates, a fast and furious F1 car, or solving a thrilling murder mystery —you're not just having fun. You’re also strengthening collaboration, improving communication, and promoting creative problem-solving. These skills carry through into the workplace, helping to create a more efficient and harmonious team in the long run.

Now, with that in mind, let’s explore three of our favourite Christmas team building activities that can add some extra joy to your office this season.

1. Chocolate Making Team Building: Sweeten the Season

If you’ve never experienced the joy of chocolate making team building, you’re missing out. Seriously, who doesn’t love the idea of spending a few hours indulging in chocolate, learning the art of tempering, and crafting your own delicious creations? It’s a fantastic way to bring people together and encompass creativity, all while treating yourselves in a festive treat.

How It Works

We begin by gathering your team in a cozy, holiday-themed setting, where you’ll learn the basics of chocolate making from our very own expert chocolatier. Everyone will have the chance to get their hands dirty—literally—as you work together to make festive chocolatey creations. Whether you choose to make snowflakes, Christmas trees, or even chocolate Santas, the activity is fully customizable to the holiday season.

What makes this activity special is the opportunity for collaboration. Teams must work together to decide on moulds, flavours, and decorations. It’s not just about individual creativity—it’s about sharing ideas and making decisions together. And when it comes time to taste test your creations? Well, let’s just say that’s where the real fun begins.

Why It’s Perfect for Christmas

Chocolate has long been embedded in the festive season. Think about it: Christmas stockings, holiday parties, and desserts are often filled with the tasty treat. But there’s something even more magical about creating your own and making it a team experience. It’s a sweet way to bond, relax, and take a break from the holiday hustle.

Plus, we can add a competitive edge to the activity. Imagine your team getting into the holiday spirit, making their best Christmas-themed chocolate creations, and then letting everyone vote on the most creative, most delicious, or most festive designs. There’s no better way to celebrate the season than by sharing delicious treats made by your own hands.

If you have a large team, no problem! This activity works equally well for both small groups and big teams, and we can adapt it to include large group icebreakers that will help people connect even more. This isn’t just a chocolate-making workshop—it’s a memory-making experience for everyone.

2. The F1 Challenge: Rev Your Engines for the Holidays

For teams that thrive on competition and adrenaline, the F1 Challenge is a surefire way to inject excitement into your Christmas event. But we’re not just talking about watching F1 cars zoom around a track. Instead, you and your team will build miniature race cars from scratch, designing your car, logos and sponsors before competing against one another, and see who can create the fastest, most efficient vehicle.

The Mechanics of the F1 Challenge

Here’s how it works: your team will receive a selection of materials to design and build your very own F1 cars. Each group will collaborate to make key decisions—choosing the best materials, testing out designs, and making adjustments as needed. You’ll need to consider aerodynamics, weight distribution, and other factors to make the best possible car. Once all the cars are built, the fun really begins. The cars will be raced against each other in the pitstop challenge.

Why It’s Perfect for Christmas

This isn’t just a race, it’s an opportunity for your team to collaborate, think strategically, and have a blast while doing so. What better way to incorporate the seasons spirit than by transforming the room into a winter wonderland? Christmas music, decorations, and themed prizes can all add to the atmosphere.

For larger groups, this can be split into multiple teams or heats, ensuring that everyone is involved. The fast-paced nature of the F1 Challenge makes it the perfect way to get everyone moving, problem-solving, and communicating, skills that are incredibly valuable in the workplace.

Plus, this event brings a sense of playful competition, something that encourages energy and excitement. In many workplaces, competition can sometimes on occasion be viewed as a negative, but in the right context—like this one—it promotes engagement, motivation, and team unity.

3. Murder Mystery: A Festive Whodunnit

If you’re looking for a team activity that’s more immersive and intellectually stimulating, the Christmas-themed Murder Mystery is an excellent choice. It’s a perfect blend of fun, mystery, and problem-solving over private dining. Imagine your team stepping into an intriguing scenario where a Christmassy crime has been committed, and it’s up to you and your colleagues to crack the case.

The Story Behind the Mystery

It’s not just about solving the mystery, though; it’s about interacting with your colleagues in a fun, relaxed environment. The social dynamics of role-playing and teamwork come into play here, and it’s a brilliant way to get people talking, thinking, and problem-solving.

Why It’s Perfect for Christmas

The Christmas theme is ideal for creating an engaging and fun environment for your team. There’s something about a good mystery—especially one with a festive twist—that makes it a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

A Murder Mystery is a fantastic choice for smaller, more intimate groups, but it can also be adapted for larger teams by dividing people into different groups to solve parts of the mystery. This makes it one of the most flexible and adaptable indoor team building events you can choose, while also providing a great way to break the ice and get people talking.

Wrapping It Up: Plan Your Perfect Christmas Team Building Day

At the end of the day, Christmas team building is about much more than just having fun. It’s an opportunity to show your team that you value them, and to give them an experience that strengthens bonds, improves communication, and helps set the tone for the year ahead.

So whether you’re tempted by the creative joy of Chocolate making, the competitive thrill of the F1 Challenge, or the interactive excitement of a Murder Mystery, now’s the perfect time to start planning. The Great London Treasure Hunt

The City's Streets are your Playground!

Our London Treasure Hunt takes your team on an exciting journey through the nation's great capital, exploring the history and sights of this historic city.

We meet you at a pre-determined location. Whether it's your offices, a hotel, conference centre, pub, restaurant or even Waterloo Station, we can start the Treasure Hunt from any location. You will receive a briefing from your event manager and each team will be issued with an iPad. The iPads are loaded with bespoke software that allows teams to navigate around the city answering a variety of questions and completing various challenges.

Teams will plot their route based on the location of on-screen 'hot-spots,' each of which hosts a different challenge. These might include general knowledge questions, location based questions, photo challenges and a list of items that your team has to retrieve.

You may also have to find a couple of our characters during your journey. Once found, these characters will give you additional tasks for bonus points. London is full of characters though so keep your wits about you!

Our iPads and software ensure the day is fun, interactive and challenging; but also mean that there’s no Googling the answers from the pub

James Bond 007 Treasure Hunt

Your Name's Bond....James Bond. Crack clues, find our secret agents and solve challenges in your reconnaissance mission

In this Bond themed treasure hunt you’ll be met by our very own “Q” who will issue you with iPads loaded with state-of-the-art Treasure Hunt software. The locations of our field agents, clues and challenges are displayed on the screen and you’ll have to track them down.

Once you have found each agent you will need to complete the fiendish bond themed puzzles and questions whilst racing against the clock. Having a good grasp of 007 trivia will certainly help but is not essential; good team work, however, is.

Only when you’re at the displayed location will you able to see and complete the challenges – so no Googling the answers from the bar whilst sipping a Martini…

The fastest team to complete the mission wins the day for King and Country!

Hidden Quest Treasure Hunt

With a fleet of identical boats, we can enjoy some really exciting sailing racing. Experience has taught us that everyone has great fun. It is natural to start out a little anxious but within minutes even the most timid are buzzing. It is the novelty of this experience that makes it both memorable and a stunning team building event.
