Communication Teambuilding activity
This game helps to build self-awareness and understand how other people may perceive you. It also explores the behavioural preferences of your team members and, hence, understand why people behave as they do. It helps you decide how you may want to communicate effectively with them.
To use this game, and create a formal report with full details of your behavioural preferences, then look at what is available with the Insights Discovery training.
- Create a stack of cards with a behaviour written on each card. A suggested list is given below.
- You want enough for 6 cards each and a few spares for the bank.
- After distributing out the cards, ask each team member to rank the cards from most to least accurate.
- Now give the group 10 mins to trade the cards with their colleagues so that they give away the ones that they feel least describe and only accept cards which they feel do describe them.
- At the end of the 10 mins if anyone has any cards that they still feel don’t describe them then they may wish to swap a single card with the bank cards that you are holding as the facilitator.
- Bring the team together and ask them to share the three cards that best describe them. Ask them to give examples of when these behaviours show up in their life.
- Encourage feedback from other team members.
