Team Building Introduction
A dissertation submitted by Ian Harnett in partial completion of the award for BSC (HONS) Sport Development and Coaching Sciences.
Introduction
This study was inspired by the lack of research that has been undertaken in the field to date.
Considering the importance of training, notably in the form of team building, and the £10.5 billion UK employers spend per annum (Department of Trade and Industry 2003) this field is of considerable importance.
The research undertaken is primarily focused on establishing the effectiveness of team building exercises from a management perspective, analysing primary and secondary data in an attempt to contribute the findings to the limited subject area.
The following piece is an investigation into the effect team building exercises have on performance focusing on groups within the corporate sector.
The paper is in association with the author's industrial placement conducted in the leading team building company, The Teambuilding Company.
It is to this effect that the author has chosen this yet unexplored field of investigation.
